  5. The GEM DESKTOP only appears  when Edith is used as  an
  6. application under a single tasking Operating System.
  7.  
  8. It shows an  Edith logo, has a  menu bar and  a set  of
  9. function keys.  Clicking  on the function  keys on  the
  10. desktop is the  same as pressing  the keys  themselves.
  11. Move the function key box  around by clicking the  left
  12. mouse button on the pads left  of F1 and right of  F10,
  13. holding the mouse, and dragging the box along.  It will
  14. move immediately as you move the mouse.

  18. The MENU BAR is divided into the following menus:

  22.    FILE        File operations.   Press  help  on  File

  41. (Advanced:) When the environment  variable PREVDESK  is
  42. set to 'yes', Edith  will copy the  root object of  the
  43. desktop when it is launched.  This option is useful for
  44. e.g. Gemini users.   However, this does  not work  with
  45. memory protection.
